Resolving Feedback problems

To keep eBay's Feedback system as reliable and useful as it can be, we don't block comments that buyers and sellers leave for each other. Feedback generally becomes a permanent part of your record. However, only buyers can leave negative or neutral Feedback. This helps reduce the chances of unfair Feedback for all members.

When you leave Feedback for someone, be honest and fair, and remember that other people rely on your opinions to help them make a buying or selling decision.

How to resolve problems with Feedback you received

There may be times when you're unhappy with the Feedback you received. If you disagree with the other member's opinions, try resolving the situation by:

Replying to the Feedback: Share your side of the story by responding to the other member's comment (your response appears directly below their comment).
To reply to Feedback you received:
  1. Go to the Feedback Forum.

  2. In the Feedback tools section on the right side of the page, click the Reply to Feedback received link. You may need to sign in.

  3. Find the comment you want to respond to, and then click the Reply link.

  4. Enter your response in the box, and then click the Leave Reply button.

Leaving a follow-up comment: If you've already left a comment to Feedback you've received, you can add more information to it. The follow-up comment appears below your original comment.
To leave a follow-up comment:
  1. Go to the Feedback Forum.

  2. In the Feedback tools section on the right side of the page, click the Follow up to Feedback left link. You may need to sign in.

  3. Find the comment you want to follow up on, and then click the Follow up link.

  4. Enter your response, and then click the Leave Follow-up Comment button.

Requesting a Feedback revision: In some cases, you can ask buyers to revise the neutral or negative Feedback they've left. You can make this request only after you've resolved a problem that the buyer had with the sale or if you think the buyer accidentally left you wrong Feedback. There are also other limitations. Learn more about how Feedback revision requests work.
To request a Feedback revision:
  1. Go to the Feedback Forum.

  2. In the Feedback tools section on the right side of the page, click the Request Feedback revision link. You may need to sign in.

  3. Find the Feedback you want to request a revision for.

  4. Select the Give the buyer a reason for the request option, enter the reason for your request, and then click the Send button.

Can Feedback be removed?

We'll remove Feedback in certain exceptional cases. For example, if:

  • It violates our Feedback policies. If you think this is the case, you can request that the Feedback be removed by clicking the Report link at the bottom of the Inappropriate Feedback comments policy page.

  • It was left by a member suspended for behavior that we've determined is malicious enough to warrant removing the Feedback they've left for all sellers.

  • The buyer's communications show that they have no intention of paying for the item for reasons outside of the seller’s control.

  • It contains vulgar language.

  • It contains personal contact information.

  • We received a valid court order to remove the Feedback.

  • It was left by a buyer who hasn't responded to a seller even after both:

    • an unpaid item case was opened by the seller, and

    • an unpaid item record was placed on the buyer's account
