Feedback represents an eBay member's permanent reputation. It’s made up of comments and ratings left by other eBay members you've bought from and sold to. These comments and ratings, along with your overall Feedback Score, are available in your Feedback Profile. Here's more information about Feedback:
How Feedback works
For each transaction, buyers and sellers can choose to rate each other by leaving Feedback. Feedback from buyers consist of a positive, negative or neutral rating, and a short comment. Feedback from sellers consist of a positive rating and a short comment. These ratings are used to determine Feedback Scores. With some exceptions, Feedback works like this:
A positive rating increases the Feedback Score by one point.
A neutral rating leaves the Feedback Score the same.
A negative rating decreases the Feedback Score by one point.
Each member may affect your score by one point (positive or negative) per transaction. However, to make sure that repeat Feedback is calculated in the Feedback Score, the new transaction the member is leaving Feedback for must end in a separate week. For Feedback, eBay defines a week as Monday through Sunday, Pacific Time.
For example, a buyer wins an item on Tuesday, then receives it and gives the seller positive Feedback on Thursday. If the buyer wins another item that week with the same seller, the Feedback the buyer leaves will not count toward the seller's Feedback Score. But if the buyer wins another item the following Tuesday, the Feedback will count toward the seller's Feedback Score.
Repeat Feedback submitted once a week counts toward members' Feedback scores.
Important notes about Feedback
Be sure to leave only fair, factual comments and ratings that relate to a specific transaction with your trading partner.
Usually a high Feedback Score is a good sign, but you should always check your trading partner's Feedback Profile to read comments and look for negative remarks.
If you are a buyer, contact your seller to try to resolve any issues before leaving neutral or negative Feedback.
You must be a registered member to leave Feedback. If you have only purchased items as a guest, you can leave Feedback for all your purchases after you register.
If the seller files an Unpaid Item dispute against that buyer, any neutral or negative Feedback left by the buyer will be removed if the buyer does not respond to the dispute before the deadline. The buyer will receive a strike.
When a member is suspended, eBay will remove any neutral or negative Feedback left by that member.
Buyers must wait at least seven days before leaving a negative or neutral Feedback for a PowerSeller who has been registered on eBay for at least 12 months.
Why leave Feedback?
Leaving honest comments gives members a good idea of what to expect when dealing with other members. Leaving Feedback is also a way to increase the goodwill of the eBay community by expressing your appreciation for a job well done. If you are a buyer, you can help spread the word about a seller you like, and if you are a seller, you can help recognise and reward loyal customers, which encourages them to buy from you again.
Should I leave negative or neutral Feedback for a seller?
Feedback comments become a permanent part of a seller’s record. If you are a buyer, contact your seller to try to resolve any issues before leaving neutral or negative Feedback. Please make sure that your comments are fair, based in fact, and relate to the specific transaction for which you received the Feedback request.
Can I leave more detailed Feedback for a seller?
As a buyer, you can rate your seller in four additional areas, which don’t count toward the seller’s Feedback Score, and are anonymous:
Postage and handling charges
Detailed seller ratings from the same buyer are counted in the same way as Feedback. Only one every week is included in the seller's score. Learn more about providing detailed seller ratings.
