Human Remains The listing of humans, the human body, any human body parts or human remains are not permitted on eBay. However, items that contain human hair (such as lockets) as well as skulls and skeletons that are used for medical purposes may be listed on eBay. Please note that the following activities are prohibited in Singapore: The trading of human corpses or remains, The trading in organs and blood, and The commercial trading in human eggs, embryos, etc which can be used for the purposes of certain reproductive technologies.
Accordingly, none of the above items may be listed on eBay. Please see the Additional Information section below. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including: Limits placed on account privileges Loss of PowerSeller status
Examples of prohibited items include, but are not limited to: organs (kidney, liver, heart, cornea)
Sellers may not include such items as a gift, prize, or giveaway in connection with an item listed on eBay. The sale of certain products derived from any organ or blood which has been subjected to processing or treatment is permitted though under the Human Organ Transplant (Specified Products) Notification. Examples include: human blood products and plasma fractions diagnostic agents derived from human blood
Under the Infectious Diseases Act (Cap 137), it is an offence to bring into Singapore, tranship or export from Singapore any corpse, human remains or bones (other than cremated ashes) unless accompanied by a medical certificate, and with the written permission of a Port Health Officer. The Human Organ Transplant Act (Cap 131A) specifically prohibits the removal of organs for transplantation as well as trading in organs and blood. In particular, advertisements relating to the selling or buying of organs or blood are prohibited, and all contracts entered into for such purposes are deemed void. Why does eBay have this policy? eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental regulations and laws. Since the sale of humans and human remains are prohibited by law, sellers may not list them on eBay.
