Picture Manager in My eBay: Add, Change or Delete Pictures

Picture Manager is eBay's picture subscription service that enables you to upload and manage a library of pictures for all of your items. When you subscribe to Picture Manager, you will be able to access it from the Sell section in My eBay. If you have also subscribed to Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro, you will be able to access Picture Manager through those applications in My eBay.

Using the Picture Manager link from My eBay, you can:

Storage space

The status gauge at the top of the Picture Manager page displays how much storage space you have used. You can upgrade or downgrade your Picture Manager subscription level at any time to change your maximum storage space.

Click the Adjust my storage space link below the storage gauge. A window displays enabling you to select a new subscription level.

Selecting a Folder

  1. To browse your pictures, click the drop-down menu in the upper right corner and select the folder with pictures you want to view.

  2. By default you will always have at least one folder. When you first subscribe, Picture Manager creates a folder for you called My Pictures.

  3. You can rename the My Pictures folder or create new folders by clicking the Manage folders link next to the folder drop-down menu.

Selecting a view

Selecting a View

  • Click the Thumbnail view link (small pictures) or the List View link in the upper left corner of Picture Manager . The List view enables you to sort your pictures by name, size, and upload date.

An In Use link adjacent to the picture name indicates which of your pictures are currently being used in an item listing. Clicking the In Use link will display the Picture Use page (see below), where you can view how the picture is used.

Uploading new pictures

  1. Click the Add Pictures button to upload new pictures.

  2. The Picture Manager uploader will display and you can browse to picture files in your computer and upload copies of them into Picture Manager.

Viewing picture details and Web links

  • To view a larger version of a picture, click the small thumbnail version.

  • To see the Web addresses of your pictures, select the check box next to one or more pictures.

  • Click the Copy Web Links button. A pop-up window will display the Web address of the selected pictures.

  • Using the drop-down menu in the pop-up, you can select the standard eBay picture size.

The stored sizes available are:

  • Thumbnail - up to 96 pixels on its longest dimension

  • Preview - up to 200 pixels on its longest dimension

  • Standard - up to 400 pixels on its longest dimension

  • Original - original dimensions (if you checked the option to upload a copy of the original on your computer.)

Note: eBay will never increase the dimensions of your picture.

Moving pictures from folder to folder

  1. To move one or more pictures from one folder to another, select the check box next to the pictures you want to move.

  2. Click the Move button. Then select an existing folder or create a new folder where the pictures are to be moved.

  3. Then click the Move Pictures Button.

  4. Moving pictures between folders will not affect their Web addresses.

Renaming pictures

  1. Select the check boxes next to the picture names.

  2. Click the Rename button.

A window will display enabling you to enter new names for your pictures.

Deleting pictures

  1. To delete pictures from Picture Manager click the check boxes next to the picture names, and click the Delete button.

  2. If you delete pictures that are currently used in eBay item listings, the pictures in those items will be replaced by an eBay graphic indicating to buyers that you deleted the pictures.

  3. Whenever you click the Delete button, a confirmation window will display first, before your pictures are deleted. The message in that window will indicate if the picture is in use in an active listing. If you click Cancel in the confirmation window, then the pictures you selected will not be deleted.

Picture Use Page

The Picture Use page enables you to manage your storage space efficiently and helps you to avoid deleting pictures prematurely. You can find out where a picture is used by clicking the “In Use” link next to its name. This will display the Picture Use details page.

The Picture Use details page displays a thumbnail of your pictures, the picture name, file size of the largest stored version (the size counted against your storage space), the upload date, the folder it is contained in, and a "Show Web Links" link. Clicking Show Web Links opens a small pop-up window that displays the web links for all the stored sizes of the picture.

Note: Tracking of picture use by Picture Manager is limited to pictures inserted from the Sell Your Item Form and Turbo Lister. Use is not tracked and reported when you insert web links for your pictures into your listing's description.

Item List

  • The item list displays the item number, item title, and status of each item where the picture is in use. The list can be sorted by clicking the field name.

  • The Status field displays the pictures listing status: Active, Ended, and Scheduled.

  • Active items are open for bids or purchase.

  • Ended items have sold or not sold. Items are viewable for 90 days following sale or end of the listing.

  • Scheduled items are listings you have submitted to start at a later time, and are not yet viewable to buyers.
