Problems Registering?

If you are having problems registering with eBay, review the following information for a possible solution.

Problem Solution

I don’t have an email address that falls under eBay’s acceptable email types.

or

My email address has been declined.

The email address you entered cannot be used to verify your identity. (See Providing Identification for Registration for more information.) During the buyer or business registration process, you might be asked to place your credit card on file for identification purposes. Placing your card on file is one of the quickest and safest ways for eBay to verify your information. Your card will be used for identification only and will not be charged.

Remember: You don’t need to worry about safety and lack of privacy. Your personal information is encrypted by the industry standard SSL software and protected by eBay's Privacy Policy.

I’m being told that I’ve already registered.

eBay requires a unique email address for every eBay member. If you do not believe you ever registered on eBay, consult anyone who might share the email address you are using, or use a different email address.

I received my buyer or business registration email, but when I click the link, nothing happens.

Do the following:

  1. Find your confirmation code near the bottom of the buyer or business registration email

  2. Copy your confirmation code, then paste the code into the specified box on the Confirm your email address page (if it isn't already entered for you).

  3. Click the Register button.

I did not receive a buyer or business registration confirmation email.

Click the Resend my email button on the Confirm your email address page to ask eBay to resend your buyer or business registration email.

If you still haven't received your buyer or business registration email, do the following:

  • Check to see if your inbox is full. If it is full, delete some email messages so that you can receive new ones. Then ask eBay to resend your buyer or business registration email.

  • If you have a bulk mail or junk mail folder, check that folder for the email from us.

  • Make sure you have given eBay your final destination email address. Email addresses that automatically forward to another email address may invalidate the digital signature that eBay places on every email it sends to you. Some email providers interpret an invalid signature as a spoof (fake) email and block these messages or deliver them to your junk mail folder.

  • Wait up to 24 hours. Since eBay doesn't control your email system, your email may not arrive instantly.

  • If 24 hours have passed, and you still haven't received your buyer or business registration email, re-register.

I received my buyer or business registration confirmation email, but when I click the Complete eBay Registration button, nothing happens.

or

I received my buyer or business registration confirmation email, but I can't click the link.

Do the following:

  1. Type (or copy and paste) the following links in your Web browser: http://pages.ebay.com.sg/register, http://pages.ebay.com.my/register, or http://pages.ebay.ph/register.
    You should now see a Registration: Confirm Your Email page.

  2. Copy your confirmation code, then paste the code into the specified box on the “Confirm your email address” page (if the code isn't already entered for you).

  3. Click the Register button.

My credit card wasn’t accepted during registration.

Do the following:

  1. Verify that the card number you entered is correct.

  2. Verify your billing address. It must match the address on your monthly statement.

  3. Only use cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo.

If your card is still not being accepted, contact your card issuer to verify the following:

  • The card account is in good standing.

  • The account does not have an Internet/phone order block.

  • If the account is new, check that the account has been activated.

When I entered my credit card information, I received a message about a suspended account.

The credit card that you are trying to register has been used previously by an account that is either suspended from our site or is on hold for nonpayment. For security purposes, any time an account is suspended, an automatic block is placed on any further use of credit cards associated with that account.

User ID invalid.

When entering a User ID, you included a character that is not allowed, for example, @ <> ( ) !, #, $, %, or &. User IDs also need to include at least 6 characters or more. See Choosing a User ID for more information.
