Store Categories

Similar to a physical store, your eBay Store categories are the "aisles" or "shelves" by which you can organise and display your listings to buyers.

Basic facts about Store categories

  • Your Store categories don't need to match eBay's categories.
  • You can create as many as 300 Store categories. Another category, "Other", will appear for listings that you did not assign to a Store category for. Your category names can be up to 29 characters long.
  • A category will not appear in your Store if there are no listings in it.
  • Whenever you create a new listing, you'll be able to assign it to one of your categories, in addition to eBay's categories.
  • To assign a listing to a different Store category, use the Revise Your Item feature.

Note: Listings that you created before you opened your Store will automatically appear in the "Other" store category, but you can edit those listings to change your category selection.

Tips for setting up Store categories

  • Create a set of categories that reflect the variety of your listings and help buyers find what they're looking for. Your listings could be organised by brand, type of item, price levels, and so forth. For example, if your Store primarily sells cameras and accessories, you could have categories such as Digital Cameras, Nikon, Professional Cameras, Film, and so forth.
  • Consider creating special categories that attract buyers' attention, such as "50% Off" or "Featured Items".
