Categorization
of Listings |
|
Items must be listed
in the appropriate category. Violations of this policy may
result in a range of actions, including:
- Listing cancellation
- Limits on account privileges
- Account suspension
- Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
- Loss of PowerSeller status
|
|
- A silver necklace should be listed in the jewelry category,
not in consumer electronics.
- A cookbook should be listed in the books category, not
in sports memorabilia.
|
|
|
Guidelines for listing items are outlined in the eBay User
Agreement.
Item listings that belong in the Mature Audiences category
that are found outside of that category will be ended. |
|
Why
does eBay have this policy? |
|
|
Categorizing items in an inappropriate category results in
a poor shopping and finding experience for buyers since incorrect
categorization returns listings in which the buyer may have
no interest. Incorrect categorization also results in an unlevel
playing field for sellers who categorize their items appropriately
and may receive fewer potential buyers. |
